Adult Education Committee:
This committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. It is to develop and administer programs of adult religious education for the Congregation with the approval of the Board and the Rabbi.
Archives, Library & Museum Committee:
This Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. This Committee shall plan exhibits for our Congregation of Jewish artifacts, crafts; and library material, and shall act as a liaison between the library and religious school. This Committee shall keep current information pertaining to the Temple archives and maintain the archives and the Book of Life. In addition, this Committee shall be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a museum when deemed appropriate by such Committee and approved by the Board of Trustees.
This Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. Its duty shall be to recommend to the Board the purchase or receipt of art objects and to effect the general enhancement of the beauty of both the interior and exterior of The Temple. The Chair of the Building and Maintenance Committee shall be a member of this committee.
Budget & Finance Committee:
The Budget and Finance Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. It shall submit an annual budget for the current fiscal year at the regular meeting of the Board not later than June. It shall annually make a survey of the insurance coverage on the real and personal property of the Congregation and report to the Board.
Annual Giving Committee:
The purpose of this committee is to create and implement the Annual Giving Campaign, consisting of the following steps:
- Formulate strategy
- Develop marketing materials
- Establish timetable for campaign
- Coordinate calling and follow-up effort
- Monitor and report progress of campaign
Recent significant changes in this committee's work have involved changing the dues structure from the "Fair Share" approach to the creation of Leadership Giving categories. The campaign culminates with the published recognition of those members who provide financial leadership within each category. The minimum Annual Giving level has been gradually increased over the past few years in order to move the majority of contributors closer to covering the average cost of Temple membership. In addition, the timetable of the Annual Giving Campaign has been streamlined and standardized.
These actions have resulted in successful campaigns that achieved an increase in Annual Giving of 31% from the prior year and leadership gifts of at least $2,300 from 30% of our members.
Building & Maintenance Committee:
The Building and Maintenance Committee shall consist of not less than three (3) members, and shall keep The Temple properties and equipment, except Cemetery, in good condition, and it shall be in charge of all alterations and repairs which may be necessary or desirable, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees. The Committee shall conduct an annual inspection of the building and grounds of the Temple.
Caring & Concern Committee:
This Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. This Committee shall seek to involve and offer individualized assistance and programming for the elderly members of the Congregation to insure that their spiritual and physical needs are met.
The Development Committee shall be composed of no less than five (5) members in addition to the chairs of the Dues Equalization and Long Range Planning Committees. This Committee shall oversee the development program of the Congregation and shall assume a leadership role in fundraising. All fundraising plans of the Congregation shall be coordinated by this Committee.
Long Range Planning Committee:
This Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. This Committee shall examine the overall direction of the Congregation and all its functions. From time to time, this Committee shall formulate long range plans for the Congregation in order to enable the Congregation to meet those problems, which it will face in the future. Any plan established or adopted by such Committee must be approved by the Board of Trustees.
The Membership Committee shall consist of no less than five (5) members. It may solicit the membership of all eligible families or individuals, in accordance with Article I, and present their applications to the Board of Trustees. It may also solicit and try to secure, in cooperation with the Dues and Equalization Committee, increases in the annual dues.
This Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. It shall have the responsibility, with the advice of the Rabbi and Director of the Preschool, to recommend all rules and regulations for the governance of the Preschool; shall recommend the salaries of the teachers, and shall have general supervision of the preschool. It shall also study and make recommendations to the Rabbi and the Director of the Preschool in regard to the curriculum for the Preschool.
Religious School Committee:
The Religious School Committee shall consist of not less than seven (7) members. It shall have the power, with the advice of the Rabbi and the Director of Religious Education, to make all rules and regulations for the governance of the Religious School; shall recommend the salaries of the teachers, and shall have general supervision of the Religious School. It shall also study and make recommendations to the Rabbi and the Director of Religious Education in regard to the curriculum for the Religious School.
Social Action Committee:
This Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. This Committee shall engage in the study of social issues of concern to our community and projects in which the Congregation should be involved and shall convey its findings to the Board. It shall provide means for the congregation, through study groups and through dissemination of appropriate literature, to become informed on the vital issues of our day. Neither the Chair, nor the Committee, individually or collectively shall issue any public statement related to the deliberation and conclusions of the Committee without prior approval by the Board.
Temple Cemetery Committee:
The Temple Cemetery Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members. The Temple Cemetery Committee shall manage and exercise supervision of The Temple Cemetery. It shall also maintain and fulfill all obligations on graves and lots covered by Perpetual Care. It shall function under the Rules and Regulations contained in the "Guide to Customs and Procedures," as approved by the Board of Trustees. Income from Cemetery operations shall be paid into The Temple treasury. Funds for the operation of the Cemetery shall be obtained from The Temple treasury and from the Perpetual Care Fund for maintenance and supervision of all lots and graves covered by Perpetual Care. The amount of annual reimbursement to be received from said Fund shall be assessed and approved by the Board of Trustees.
Worship & Music Committee:
The Worship and Music Committee shall consist of not less than five (5) members who shall consult with the Rabbi and Cantor concerning music and liturgy for all services. The chair, in consultation with the Rabbi, shall select participants for all worship services.
Youth Advisory Committee:
The Youth Advisory Committee shall consist of not less than seven (7) members. Its shall advise and counsel with Temple Youth and other youth groups of The Temple on their activities and programs. It shall assist in these activities; be chaperones, and create a close relationship between the youth and the Congregation.
