Our Services

Shabbat is the Jewish Sabbath and a weekly holiday that offers a repose from the frenzied pace of the week. Shabbat begins at sundown on Friday and ends with Havdalah on Saturday evening. The Temple holds Shabbat services on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.

History & Heritage

This congregation began in the late 1840s when a group of Jewish residents met for services at the home of one Isaac Garretson on South Summer Street (5th Avenue). By 1851, the group organized a Benevolent Society and purchased cemetery property.
