Richard Ehrlich

Medium(s):   Photography

Bio

[ Top ]

A renowned surgeon, Richard Ehrlich has taken photography for decades as a method of record keeping during surgery. Now, he has merged his artistic sensitifity with the precision of his medical photography,k yielding visual images that are technically precise, yet soaringly evocative in content.

He was first a painter influenced by 19th century artists, especially Cezanne. Later, he turned for inspiration to the work of Bay-Area figurative painters, particularly Elmer Bischoff and Richard Diebenkorn. These influences nurtured his predilection for glowing color and off-kilter composition.
