As Reform Jews, we have an obligation to help repair the world, to engage in Tikkun Olam.  We can use today’s technology not just to learn about injustice, but to seek to fight it, and to inspire others by our work. Over the High Holidays we challenged our congregation to complete 18 hours of Tikkun Olam, social action, from this past Yom Kippur to the next. Many congregants have alrady engaged in this project partipating with the Temple Social Action Committee, and have asked for more suggestions on how to get involved. On this website congregants can share their experiences and ideas with others. As congregants post their comments to the website, they can share where they volunteered and what they learned; they can post pictures and help inspire other congregants to do the same.                   

Hopefully each Bar or Bat Mitzvah student will share the mitzvah project he or she choses, and each grade in our religious school may incorporate their special project by grade level.  There are also resources on this site for donating, for getting ideas for projects, and for shopping at fair-trade and eco-friendly sites that promote a global marketplace. We can live out our obligation to our world through our work, our gifts and our sharing.
